The Spirit of Chartwell - we were there first!

Silver Travel's very own Advisor, Alan Fairfax, visited the Spirit of Chartwell earlier this year and has written about his unique experience prior to the transformation which took place for the Jubilee pageant.

Eastbourne on foot with Harry and Pam

Who tried to blow up the pier? When was someone murdered in the Burlington Hotel? What ghost appears in Elms Avenue? Where is the secret air raid shelter? These questions and more are answered by local ex-hoteliers Harry and Pam Pope who run guided walks 5 times each week. The walks are all on one level, and are suitable for all ages. Says Harry 'I have researched over a long period of time, and have found out facts that locals, even the mayor, were unaware of'. We say that the walks are amusing as well as informative (Harry has a very dry sense of humour) and it's a very interesting 90 minutes for only £5 (free for under 14's)'.

Gina John has worked in exercise and physical wellbeing for over 20 years. A Pilates Practitioner and Registered Osteopath, she founded Book now The Osprey Clinic, which specialises in exercise and rehabilitation programmes, for the over 50s and others. Gina is pleased to offer Silver Travel Advisor members help and advice, looking at how to prepare for travel and how to stay fit and mobile, while away from home. Also, Gina offers tips on how to deal with aches and pains while travelling, including a focus on seasonal travel problems.
